Acceleron named 'Pharmaceutical Industry Standard of Excellence' by the Web Marketing Association

NEWTON UPPER FALLS, MA (September 18, 2007) - The Web Marketing Association ("WMA") today announced that it has awarded a "Pharmaceutical Industry Standard of Excellence" WebAward for 2007 to Acceleron Pharma - a pharmaceutical company focused on developing innovative therapies. The Acceleron website was designed, developed, and launched by Embarc, Inc., an Interactive Marketing Agency based in Newton Upper Falls, Massachusetts.
WMA, an organization devoted to establishing high standards for Internet marketing and corporate Web development, annually recognizes the individual and team achievement of Web professionals who create and maintain outstanding corporate websites. More than 2,400 sites from 40 countries were adjudicated in 96 industry categories during this year's competition. Entries were judged on design, copy writing, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, and use of technology.
Acceleron's website was designed and developed to establish their online brand identity and accurately communicate their science and company vision to all key target audiences. Embarc worked closely with Acceleron's Senior Management team to assess the Company's offering for all key constituents; cultivate key points of meaningful differentiation from the perspective of relevant audiences; and come away with a picture that became the starting point for online brand communication.
Building on Acceleron's Key Messages and working closely with internal team members creating site content, Embarc integrated a Search Engine Optimization campaign to ensure the content appealed not only to Acceleron's key audiences, but also targeted search terms selected for the most site traffic.
Behind the scenes, Embarc's EzUpdate Content Management System empowers Acceleron's staff with the ability to add press releases, update management biographies, and change content and imagery on every page of the site.
Said one independent WMA judge of the site, "The design and layout of this site are very effective. I found the contacts page to be very well thought out with the inclusion of public transportation and walking directions. The content ... is entirely suitable for the target audience."
