Two Websites by Embarc Selected as 2005 MITX Awards Finalists
10/21/2005
NEWTON UPPER FALLS, MA (October 21, 2005) - Embarc today announced that two recently launched sites for The Knowles Company and for Cyberkinetics have been selected as a finalist in the Real Estate and Biotechnology categories for The 10th Annual MITX Awards. Produced by the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange, the MITX Awards recognize excellence in the creation of interactive technologies designed, produced or developed in New England.
Begun in 1996, the MITX Awards have grown to the largest and most prestigious awards competition in the country for technology innovations and celebrates the best creative and technological accomplishments emerging from New England.
"This is a special milestone for the organization and the commercial internet industry as a whole, both of which have seen significant change, myriad successes and unprecedented growth over the past decade. As technology advances, we will be at the forefront of those advancements." said Kiki Mills, Executive Director of MITX. "Our awards finalists continue to raise the bar and their work is a true testament to how interactive technology has become a core technology for businesses across all industries, nonprofits and educational institutions."
The Knowles Company website enables users to search through sales and rental listings using customized criteria and save favorite properties into private portfolios. Users can also subscribe to a property or specific search and receive email alerts when the status or price of their favorite properties changes. Based on an influx of new memberships to the site, these broadcasting and alert features have proven their ability to increase loyalty among potential customers.
"The response to our new web site has been over-whelming." stated Keating Pepper, a partner at The Knowles Company. "Our clients like to be in control of when and how they get their information. Our new website achieves that at an A+ level."
For Cyberkinetics, Embarc began the engagement by working to develop the corporate messaging and creating visual ways to demonstrate how the technology works and it's potential benefits. The Cyberkinetics website has been specially designed for visually impaired and physically handicapped users who can easily enlarge the font sizes on the pages or they can switch to a second version of the site that has been built following Bobby Compliance standards.
"The Embarc team was highly successful in meeting our two main goals:" stated Jessica Duda, Director of Corporate Development at Cyberkinetics, "Creative design and messaging to convey our presence in the neurotechnology field and a website with features and functionality specifically designed for persons with quadriplegia who are a large part of our initial patient population. "
"We are very pleased to be selected as a finalist for both of these projects. The nomination serves as validation for all the hard work that went into creating both of these Web sites." said Myles Bristowe, a partner at Embarc. "Our goal from the beginning of every project is to create an effective Web presence that exceeds our clients expectations and as our tag line states, we strive to deliver Net Results".
The Knowles Company and Cyberkinetics will both be recognized with the other finalists at a gala awards ceremony traditionally attended by over 800 of the region's top interactive technology and business professionals. Winners will be announced at the ceremony in the Boston Copley Place Marriott on Wednesday, November 2nd. Tickets can be purchased at www.mitxawards.org.
The 2005 MITX Awards program is sponsored by AOL, Doubleclick, Eyeblaster, IBM, Nixon Peabody LLP, Pointroll, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC and Backbone Media. Media partners are boston.com and Technology Review.
